High expectations..
High expectations..
A few years ago someone told me I had to see the film "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain"(short: Amelie). It took a while before I saw it, but as the subtitle mentioned "Elle va changer votre vie", it really did and still does.. especially while I've collected several foreign editions of the DVD.
Yesterday I finally went and see the next film by director J-P Jeunet and his cast (incl. Audrey Tautou) "Un Long dimanche de Fiançailles". Allthough the music and images of the films aren't bad, it's much less as it could've been or what you'd expect after a brilliant film as Amélie.. I guess it's the story itself which doesn't "fit" JP Jeunet's cinematic way of filming that leads to a less coherent movie.
I guess I'll stick to just one copy of this film's DVD..
One thing what made "Amelie" also special was it's musicial score by Yann Tiersen (allthough it's more of a best of.. Yann Tiersen). Too bad too many programmes (at least on dutch television) "borrow" Yann's music to "uplift" their programme..
