Reaching for Vive la Fête's Els Pynoo.. Posted by Hello

Don't know what Vive la Fête! sounds like? Check: www.vivelafete.net
They, Danny Mommens (ex-Deus-bassplayer) and Els Pynoo (his girlfriend), formed VLF around '97 as a Fun-band. Nevertheless they're currently very succesful and conquering the world after the release of their fourth (!) album: "Nuit Blanche".
What to expect? High energy fun performances of their eighties sounding electric-music sung in French (like Serge Gainsbourg..).

Did you know..

that less than 5 years ago.. a compact flash card of 64Mb costed 469,- guilders (213 euro) and the largest card was 96Mb (for 346 euro's). Currently you can buy 64-256Mb(!) for 25 euro's and the largest available (highspeed) card will be the 8Gb-card for 859 euro..

Anyway the winds blows

Yesterday I (finally) saw the above movie. Bizarre.. interesting themes and camerashots/movements, but after 2 hours of film still not having a clue what it's all about.. (The plague is back, uh, now what,... where's the blind dude???) Anyway the music alone is reason enough to see the movie once.. and afterwards you just buy/download the soundtrack to relive your own experiences once more and again..

New U2-cd

Quite recently I obtained the latest U2-CD ("How to dismantle an atomic bomb"). Offcourse not the "cheap" one but the very limited edition with 48p. booklet. It looks great BUT, I expected the booklet to be loaded with pix by my alltime rock-photographer-hero Anton Corbijn, almost no photographic works.. The thing I'm most annoyed/disappointed about is the fact that the cheap CD has at least ONE AC-pic, and the limited edition: NONE!!

Luckily, the music is worth it!

Photography and Music

Sometimes it's weird to find out that the CD's I bought mainly for the Artwork-picture(s) are linked! For example the CD's of "Goya Dress" (Rooms, pix by Vincent MacDonald) and "Astrid" (Boy for You, pix by Rick Guest). I bought both CD's seperately just for the pix. Incidently enough is/was Astrid the leadsinger/writer of Goya Dress!! Bizarre..

And where have I seen pix by Rick Guest before? Yep, the current sleeves of the Depeche Mode-greatest Hits-albums 81-86 and 87-98 were also.. Rick Guest!

They're offcourse mass production-pix, but allthough I was considering selling the Goya Dress and Astrid-CD's, I'll keep 'em.

P.s. Vincent MacDonald is nevertheless quite unknown..
